Due to family prejudices when I was a girl, I was not permitted to attend Christian Science church services or the Sunday School, though I read some of the authorized literature and thought Christian Science a wonderful religion. By the time I had finished college I was quite an agnostic, though I still attended the orthodox church of my girlhood. Then marriage and the responsibilities of a family turned me to Christian Science. I had read many testimonies and heard of other experiences firsthand from relatives who were Christian Scientists. "If all this is true," I said to myself, "then it is what I want for myself and for my children."
For some time I read Mrs. Eddy's writings without being thoroughly convinced by them. Mentally I argued each point I could not understand from my material view point. It was not until I humbly decided to accept the few points I could understand and to work from there that I began to make progress. I could accept the fact that God is good and is infinite, and that proved a good foundation upon which to build.
