So much of good has come to our family through our understanding of Christian Science since my testimony was published in the Journal of October, 1944, that I have felt withholding of further testimony was not in obedience to the command (Mai. 3:10), "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse." The truth of God's goodness is true for all, and I hope others may find encouragement from our experiences.
One day during the Second World War, I was very much disturbed. I thought, "If God could prevent this war, then why is it permitted?" Then I realized that that was just what mortal mind wanted the Christian world to do—to doubt the omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence of God. A positive assurance came that regardless of the evidence before the human senses, God was in complete control. A sense of peace filled my thought. That evening as I passed my hand over the forearm, an ugly blemish rolled away under my fingers. Many difficult days have followed, but never again have I doubted that the Christ, Truth, will eventually rule all nations in harmony and peace.
A healing by mental surgery in the removal of an abnormal growth from my husband's eye was cause for great gratitude. I do not know what the condition would have been called, since no diagnosis was made; but whatever it was, it was spreading. The teachings of Christian Science were applied, and Truth's activity was soon evident. One day I mentioned to my husband that the spot on his eye was disappearing. "Yes," he said, "I know it, and I can see better too." It soon disappeared completely.
