A few years ago, because of ill-health, my husband had to give up his business. He entered a Christian Science House where he subsequently received his healing. With the closing of the business, our usual channel of supply had ceased, and we had no income. At first I was inclined to panic; then I realized that the battle was the Lord's and that I must stand still and see His salvation, as the Bible tells us.
Hitherto I had mostly thought of God as my ever-present Mother, Love, but now I thought more of the fatherhood of God, of His great might and power, and of His filling all space. My thought then turned to the order of the universe, evidenced in the stars in their courses, the orderly unfoldment of seed, leaf, flower, and fruit, and I felt that since God looks after His infinite universe, He also looks after me and mine.
These promises were fulfilled in our experience (Jer. 23:3, 4): "I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them . . . and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord." Such spiritual contemplation and realization were not without their outward manifestations, and new avenues of supply opened up.
