TODAY'S NEED FOR MORAL AND SPIRITUAL EDUCATION

From the June 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One of the outstanding economists of the world states in a current issue of a well-known magazine that in his estimation a critical need of today is education in citizenship. And he adds that moral education, as well as the acquisition of knowledge, is important.

Millions of people in the world are engaged today in some business or professional activity relating to production and service for mankind. How important that those so employed be inspired by good will and honesty in their daily lives!

Much is being said today about the importance of education in the natural sciences as well as in the humanities. But more is required in current affairs than vast knowledge and the development of the human intellect. The expression of true manhood, Christlike being, is basic to the success of any enterprise, whether it is the establishment of a home, a business, or a nation.
