At a time of extreme strain and stress in my experience a friend gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. After reading only the first statement I realized that the book contained a way of salvation for me. I embraced the teachings of Christian Science with my whole heart, though I had to be healed of a feeling of resentment toward both Christ Jesus and Mrs. Eddy. This feeling was turned to one of praise and heartfelt gratitude for them both.
I have been in Science about twenty-two years now, and during these years I have never been absent from my work for a single day, though I have had many trials and tribulations.
At one time I was appointed chairman of a committee. I worked earnestly to the best of my ability and understanding; but soon unjust criticism was leveled at me, and resentment crept into my thinking. Then a growth appeared on my body. Although it did not prevent me from carrying out my church commitments and other duties, it did not escape the attention of my wife, who said, "If Christian Science can't help you, I will call a doctor." I asked her to be patient for forty-eight hours.
