HEALING SIN AND DISEASE IS A DEMAND OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the May 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Debate about the value of morality seems to be occupying the attention of many people and is, no doubt, a sign of the growing materialism of this age. As viewed in Christian Science, in which morality and spirituality are seen as inseparable, any tendency to downgrade the importance of morality is a symptom of spiritual deficiency that can be overcome only through spiritualization, and the consequent dematerialization, of human thought.

The spiritual and moral forces of the divine Mind provide the only suitable standard for human conduct. These forces enable individuals to become progressively superior to the claim that evil in its pretense of being the opposite of good (which has no opposite) is able to separate man from God and bring him under the domination of sin, disease, and death.

The mighty mental and moral chemicalization that is taking place makes it seem as if a worldwide housecleaning were going on, in which temporarily there appears to be a great sense of confusion and upheaval. But the power of God, Spirit, is irresistible. Materialism has no real authority. Good must triumph; Truth must rule; Love must reign. These facts are demonstrable.
