At times, they have seemed to find a way out and have thought the victory was won; but then they have found themselves in the midst of a new labyrinth, and everything was as uncertain as before.
In our era there seem to be some important victories over evils of various kinds, but these victories give one an impression of precariousness; the fear of greater dangers is latent in collective consciousness and knocks at the door of the individual consciousness.
The author of this article, who had never taken in much of what was said when she heard a certain dreaded disease discussed, began to feel ill at ease every time she heard or read the word "cancer." One day when she was leafing through an illustrated magazine, she read a statement made by a doctor that cancer is anarchic by nature. At once ideas learned through Christian Science began to unfold in her thought.
