I experienced a wonderful healing through the ministrations of Christian Science in the winter of 1937. One Friday night when the roads were already covered with ice, heavy snow fell on top of it.
My work as a music teacher meant long hours of teaching every Saturday in a studio thirty-five miles from my home. Christian Science had long been a proved source of strength and guidance in our household; so this particular morning I prepared for the day's work with an earnest study of the citations in the Bible and in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy which were given in the Quarterly as the week's Lesson-Sermon. It was extremely cold, and some snow was still coming down as I started out to drive to the studio.
Suddenly, as I was going through an intersection, my car was struck with a great force on the right rear side, and it spun around on the icy road. I was thrown out of the car and across the ice and snow. The policemen who soon came decided that because of the small clearing on the windshield of the other car, my car had passed beyond the range of the driver's vision, and he had hit me while he was traveling at full speed. However, only my head and arms were injured.
