When I was a child, my mother was healed through Christian Science of what the doctors called a complication of diseases. She had been in almost constant pain. Leading physicians and surgeons had kindly done all that they knew how to do and finally said she could live only a short time.
At this time business friends of my father urged him to try Christian Science, saying that it could not hurt her. Although prejudiced against this religion by a misconception of it, he agreed to call a practitioner. She came and talked to Mother about God's goodness, and prayed. Afterward she talked with the family, telling us of the Father's love for all His children and that He could not know sickness—that He sees each one as His perfect idea.
That night Mother slept for the first time in months. The second day brought much improvement. The third day, as she studied the textbook, Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, she said, "This woman must have been inspired." She then dressed herself and joined the family downstairs for dinner. The healing was complete and proved to be permanent. Later she became a dedicated practitioner.
