Church in Action

"All are guests of God"

From the August 1966 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The welcome in a Christian Science church or Reading Room is more than a printed sign on the door or in the display window. It is something deep and genuine in the hearts of the church members and Reading Room attendants. As one librarian expresses it: "Nobody comes here unless God sends him. All are guests of God. We shouldn't feel any difference in our hearts between Scientists and nonscientests. Then interesting things happen."

Interesting things have been happening in Reading Rooms in the Republic of South Africa the past year:

• An African who had come across a copy of Mrs. Eddy's book Science and Health elsewhere spent some hours seated at the counter of a Reading Room perusing the books from the shelves of the lending library. He said, "I like this Christian Science too much.'" He told the librarian he puts into practice what he reads and is a different person. He decided to give up medicine.
