Christian Science has blessed me in many ways, and my gratitude is boundless. My religion has given me good health and strength to lead an active life. It has given me a good home and a good husband and was of inestimable value in rearing our three fine sons. It has taught me to be more loving and kind and given me a better sense of morals. It has given me an omnipresent, omnipotent, loving God.
When I went away from home to teach in a country school, the woman with whom I boarded placed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in my room. I had heard about this religion and was curious about the book. I read the Preface and the first chapter, but was not much interested at that time in the second chapter so did not pick up the book again for a time.
All my life I had been frail. I was sick much of the time and took medicine regularly. On one occasion I came home from school with all the symptoms of influenza and greatly feared that this threatened illness would force me to give up my job and return home.
