Church in Action

Commitment on the Campus

From the January 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Close observers of the campus scene are the seven Regional Assistants for the College Organization Section of the Youth Division of the Department of Branches and Practitioners of The Mother Church.

For the Pacific Region—California to Alaska the Regional Assistant covers about four campuses a week looking after the progress of Christian Science organizations. He finds it difficult to categorize these young Scientists.

"Some are activists," the Regional Assistant observed, recalling a student who has marched in support of special causes while remaining an outstanding organization member. "You'll find plenty in student government, too." Of the students attracted to sorority and fraternity life, some overdo socializing and put Christian Science aside for a while. "But the perceptive ones are active Scientists," he continued. "There have been 'org' presidents who are fraternity or sorority presidents."
