Youth Takes Christian Science to the World

From the January 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Human reasoning, unaided by perception of the spiritual dimension, frequently ends in limitation or frustration. When encountering the problems of the world, human beings often protest, resist, lament, rebel, disobey laws, make wars, despair, try escapism, or give up too easily. They fail to get to the source of the problem. And so the ills of the world go on. Can Christian Science help?

Yes, it offers a solution that reaches to the very roots of any perplexing situation. Its basic premise is the supremacy of good over evil. It teaches that creation is good because the creating cause of all is good. Putting it another way, the cause of good, God, creates all and creates it good. This means that only good is real. Therefore evil is not real in the true sense of things but exists only as a supposititious state of thought. It is the invention of a mentality ignorant of good. In other words, Christian Science says, the way to destroy evil is to arouse the human mind from its ignorance of God. The world needs to hear more of this message. To young people who want to set things right, here is a challenge. Take the teachings of Christian Science to the world!

Who are the young prophets to do this? They must have the spirit of adventure. They must be creative, resourceful, and courageous when encountering the trials that await the avant-garde of truth, for the teachings of Science are startlingly unconventional to those who think evil to be real, matter to be substance, man to be mortal.
