Testimonies of Healing

It is with great joy and much humility...

From the November 1970 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with great joy and much humility that I relate a healing I had three years ago.

While working on a construction job, I was balanced on top of a six-foot-high fence. I had my left foot wedged between two braces of the fence. After finishing my work, I jumped backward. My left foot did not pull free at once and I fell to the pavement. As I lay on the walk for a few moments, I turned my thought to God and prayed to know the truth of my relationship with Him. The pain in one ankle was severe, but I managed to hobble down four flights of stairs to my truck. I realized that I could not drive, so I called my employer, who came to get me. He took me to a hospital to have X rays that would satisfy insurance claims and legal requirements on a job injury. I consented because it was right to protect my employer.

After the doctor looked at the X rays, she said the breaks were so bad that I would have to go to a bone specialist to be treated. Before I left the hospital, she gave me the X rays and the names of bone specialists in my home town thirty miles away. On the way home I filled my consciousness with the true facts of my being as a spiritual idea made in the image and likeness of God and denied the material picture of the so-called facts the doctor saw. From early childhood I was taught to deny reality to evil, so it was natural for me to reverse the statements the doctor had made concerning the trouble and replace them with the truth.
