Since my first testimony appeared in the Journal of May, 1961, I have had a number of other healings in Christian Science, for which I am extremely grateful.
These included the successful passing of a driving test and the elimination of all fear of accidents after a twenty-year period of not driving a car. This freedom from fear when on a highway came after I had realized through prayer in Christian Science that love for our neighbor is the key to all traffic rules and to competent driving. This thought came like a sudden illumination just as my turn for the driving test was about to come. I took out my Pocket Edition of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and opened it to the following sentence (p. 454): "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way."
Thanks to a Christian Science practitioner's prompt response to my call for treatment, an extremely violent attack of internal pain was healed promptly, and its cause—supposedly a kidney stone—just was not there when the company nurse rushed me to a hospital for a number of tests, including X-ray pictures. Specialists thought they had detected something in the first pictures, but found nothing in the last series. No medication was offered, and a somewhat puzzled chief surgeon at the emergency ward allowed me to leave.
