Testimonies of Healing

"Tell it like it is" is an expression popular...

From the April 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Tell it like it is" is an expression popular among young people these days and, rather oddly enough, it has been helpful to me in seeing more clearly than ever before man's relationship to God.

A very close friend and I had an unfortunate disagreement, one that left me feeling downcast and disturbed. Although I tried every human footstep I knew to bring about a return to our previously harmonious relationship, there seemed to be no progress. One evening while I was watching a television program, my attention was caught by the statement "Tell it like it is" spoken by a teen-ager on the program. As I began to think about what that statement really meant, I realized that as a student of Christian Science I had completely failed to utilize the truths we are taught of the real nature of man. I had been seeing injustice, pettiness, lack of love. I needed to replace these with an understanding that man, as the reflection of God, can express only justice, integrity, and a clear sense of the ever-present, omnipotent Love, which is God. This, then, was really telling it like it is! As I began to recognize these qualities in my friend, and to realize that she could recognize only these qualities in me, the situation began to clear up, and the way opened for the healing to take place.

Christian Science has been my way of life since I was a very young girl. The truths that were learned in the Christian Science Sunday School have always been with me and have sustained me in many times of trouble. It was during my years in Sunday School that I developed a great love for the hymns found in the Christian Science Hymnal, one of which was instrumental in a physical healing I experienced when in my last year of high school.
