Outreach with Results

From the May 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How can outreach bring results? A challenging question. My search for the answer was stimulated while attending an Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, where one of the speakers made the statement, "There is not one truth for the white man and another truth for the black man."

I asked myself, Do we have one set of spiritual truths for the white race and another set for the other races? Of course not. There is one spiritual truth for all races: the allness of God, good.

But could my prayers be universal enough, inspired enough, thorough enough, effective enough, to aid in solving world problems? Could I meet the challenge of maintaining a healing sense of the power and presence of God and of man in His likeness when day after day I was confronted with the opposite evidence? Could I demonstrate genuine outreach? I determined to try.
