CHURCH IN ACTION News and Announcements

No changes yet!

From the January 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A false impression needs to be corrected. Although the September, 1973, Journal announced plans to replace the Christian Science Benevolent Associations, the Department of Care wants to emphasize that none of the services currently provided by these Sanatoriums will be reduced or eliminated until new facilities have opened. Both Benevolent Associations still welcome applications for nursing care and for rest and study.

The nurses training schools at both Sanatoriums are running at near capacity. New classes are scheduled four times a year with no danger of interruption, regardless of what conclusion is reached about the Benevolent Associations.

In the last business year, however, the average occupancy of rest and study facilities at the Benevolent Associations was only 29 percent for one and 38 percent for the other. This means either the Benevolent Associations have too many rooms or Christian Scientists aren't aware the rest and study service is available to them.
