I have had many blessings and healings through the study and application of Christian Science for the last thirty years. One outstanding healing was that of a growth on my face which had been there for several years, and it had grown larger. Christian Science treatments were given at different times by several practitioners over this trying period but without noticeable improvement.
I went to Mexico on a vacation about four years ago, and while in Mexico City, one evening I sat down at my desk and very loudly and emphatically declared, "I have had enough." Then I picked up my Christian Science Journal and called a practitioner, and asked for help through prayer. When I talked with her the next morning, she told me about a friend who worked near the Panama Canal with ships, and had asked her to come down to the docks to look at a ship. She had gone down and found the hull of the ship covered with barnacles. Then he asked that she come down again in a few days and look at the ship again, which she did, and she found that the ship had been moved and docked in fresh water, with the result that the ship was completely free of all barnacles. This showed to me very clearly that the sore clinging to my face was likened to a barnacle on that ship, in that my thought must be purified to bring about a healing.
The practitioner prayed for me before I left Mexico City, and in about ten days after I got back home the growth had completely disappeared from my face. This healing has remained permanent.
