The possibilities were immense. Here was a large and diverse group of new immigrants to Canada living in the vicinity of the Christian Science Society. Some members of the society, located near one of Canada's largest cities, wanted very much to reach these new neighbors.
The lecture committee chairman had been prayerfully seeking new ways to use the periodicals. She collected all the monthly and quarterly editions of The Herald of Christian Science she could find, plus about three months of translated religious articles from the Monitor. She put them on a table at their next lecture. Each article and magazine was marked with the name of the language in bold letters. Guests took 19 pieces of translated literature.
Right away the Sunday School began to grow—not just from the literature, the lecture chairman emphasizes, but also from the members' supporting prayers. A Spanish woman and her three children were the first to respond. She called the society's clerk one day and asked, "How would your members accept my children?"
