Neighborly Love

From the April 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Spiritual inspiration and understanding are necessary in order to give help in Christian Science. We gain them as we hold to the real selfhood of man.

As the Bible teaches and Christian Science explains, this spiritual self is created by God, good, to reflect Him. Its motivation is thus constantly inspired by good, which is the true substance of each one of us. Rightly considered, all individual expressions of God, divine Mind, manifest in eternal, harmonious brotherhood the infinity of good. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "There is but one I, or Us, but one divine Principle, or Mind, governing all existence."Science and Health, p. 588;

In God we find the true selfhood of the person who needs help. This real self is free of all bodily suffering, afflictions, and adversities, which belong to the illusive realm of material belief.
