About forty-four years ago I began the study of Christian Science. At the time I had been troubled with what a doctor diagnosed as inflammation of the gallbladder, and was taking the pills he prescribed. The doctor said that if the pills did not help I must return to him for surgery.
I studied the Bible, especially the passages about Jesus healing people. I believed that God could still heal, so I earnestly prayed to be led to a right understanding of what Jesus taught and proved so many centuries ago.
My husband and I met a fine woman, a Christian Scientist, and she invited us to go with her to a Christian Science lecture. I was very interested, and when it was over, I asked our new friend about many things I did not understand. She said she would send me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I was given three copies of the Christian Science Sentinel. These appealed to me.
