My mother and father came into Christian Science during the Depression, when I was about six years old. I remember many trials and hard times while growing up, but all problems were faced and mastered through the application of the teachings of Christian Science and complete reliance on God.
I had the privilege of marrying a girl who was also raised in Christian Science, and we have two children.
I would like to tell of a healing of our older daughter that occurred when she was about five years old. We had been living in another state for several months on a temporary assignment. One night this daughter had extreme abdominal pains, and was doubled up. There was great fear on my part because the situation looked like acute appendicitis. This fear was so great that it numbed my ability to pray for the child in Christian Science. I could not concentrate because of the child's great discomfort. However, I was confident of the healing efficacy of Christian Science, having witnessed it often.
