There is no joy on earth to equal the deep sense of knowing God's dear presence and protecting care. When I first started studying the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, it was not for physical healing but with a longing to know God and a better way of life.
When my children were small, I suffered a severe hemorrhage, which lasted for days and became alarming. My husband, who was not a student of Christian Science, wanted to call a doctor, but this only spurred me on to greater endeavor to find the true Physician "who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:3).
Toward the end of the week I feared that if relief did not come I would collapse, for my fear was great and I was feeling very weak. It was at this stage that my voiceless prayer was answered. As if someone in the room spoke, I heard these words (Isa. 65:24): "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Instantaneously I was lifted out of the pit of despair into perfect health and immediate strength. Joy flooded my whole being, for I had proved Mrs. Eddy's words, "The same power which heals sin heals also sickness" (Science and Health, p. 135).
