Christian Science means a great deal to me. It is responsible for all of the good and success that I have experienced.
For almost as long as I can remember I have wanted to become a physicist. At a very early age in my life my family came into Christian Science, so it was natural for me to apply Science in my studies.
During my college career I used this teaching to overcome fear of examinations and to be able to express intelligence and understanding in my schoolwork. I remember one particularly difficult take-home mathematics examination. There were four problems, all due on Monday, and it was Sunday, and I hadn't started them yet! That afternoon there was a Christian Science lecture on campus, and I decided to attend. After the lecture I read over the exam. I couldn't answer any of the questions. But I knew that God, Mind, was expressing intelligence right then and there and that I reflected intelligence as God's expression. I began to review the material of the course that might apply to the problems at hand. Each time I was tempted to give up, I laid aside the mathematics text and prayed to feel God's presence and protection. As soon as the fear departed I again turned to the mathematics with the inspiration I had gained. In this manner all four problems were speedily and satisfactorily completed. I handed the problems in, just knowing that intelligence was ever present and that man is the expression of God. I saw every member of that class as the intelligent expression of God, and felt no sense of competition or jealousy.
