Evil truly vanishes before a spiritualized consciousness. I submit this testimony hoping to encourage someone else who may be beset by great fear. I have proved the truth of Paul's words (Rom. 8: 6), "To be spiritually minded is life and peace." Some individuals may have to dig deeper or work harder than others, but victory awaits sincere effort in a spiritual direction.
In May, 1959, I had a miscarriage. Serious loss of blood was involved. The obstetrician insisted that I go to the hospital. I felt it was necessary to comply. Two other specialists were called in by the obstetrician, and they requested permission to operate the next day. My husband and I are Christian Scientists, and I was resolved not to have surgery. As a result, I was released in four days to go home.
A week later one of the doctors called me on the telephone and asked me to come to his office for further checkups. I replied that I was sure I could take care of myself and would have no further need for medical attention. He then firmly and bluntly informed me that a malignancy was evident and that unless I accepted their attentions I would be dead within six months. He said that I should remember I had three young children and a husband to think about and that they deserved my full consideration in this matter.
