The privilege of being raised in a Christian Science home is not always fully appreciated until the challenges of working at a job, establishing a home, and raising a family are experienced firsthand. I shall always be grateful for the years in the Christian Science Sunday School and the valuable lessons learned. But it took getting out on my own to show me that dedication and perseverance are the tools needed to practice Christian Science healing.
The consecrated study of the King James Bible, together with Science and Health and other writings by Mrs. Eddy, has brought many blessings to our family during the past twelve years. There have been healings of all sorts of physical difficulties, and proved availability of energy, wisdom, and supply necessary in raising a family of five children.
When our fifth child was born—our only daughter—we had an opportunity to demonstrate that God is Life, eternally perfect. Shortly after the birth the infant stopped breathing. The doctor in attendance at the birth happened to be right next to her crib at that moment and took the necessary human steps to start her breathing again. She was placed in an incubator, and a specialist in breathing difficulties was consulted.
