I remember seeing in a book of riddles, when I was a child, a picture of a large, smiling elephant seated on a tiny, squashed bun. Material sense sometimes makes us feel like that bun—overwhelmed by conditions at home, work, or school; by disease, lack, grief; by worldwide injustice and tyranny. These may appear to take on gigantic proportions, but in absolute Truth they are no more real than that absurd elephant. God, being All-in-all, fills all space. The Bible states, "The Lord he is God; there is none else beside him." Deut. 4:35; And God is omnipotent, so there cannot be another power.
In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy defines God as "the great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence." Science and Health, p. 587;
And what of man? In Isaiah we read, "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." Isa 43:12; So man is continually bearing witness to God's being. He is God's expression of His own nature. Man reflects the infinite capacities and abilities of intelligent Mind, the peace and harmony of Soul, the purity of Spirit, the boundless activity of Life, the exactness and steadfastness of Truth, and the tenderness of Love.
