Do you sometimes feel your Sunday School class is competing with electronic games and television and comic-book characters—and losing?
When I started teaching eight-year-old girls, I found Sunday mornings were often the most challenging times in my week. The girls were bright, bouncy, and best of friends. Sunday morning was an excellent time to catch up on the latest television shows, to share jokes, and to talk about fantastic heroes and heroines. Talking about God didn't seem too attractive.
Yet in the two years that followed, Sunday School won the battle against the superheroes. The victory required following some very important spiritual steps that other teachers may find helpful.
