The truth, without exception

From the September 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The application of Christian Science requires a firm conviction of the absolute truth that God is All—that He alone is the All-loving, all-powerful and ever present. By the very nature of such allness, no other power or presence can exist. There is no exception.

The truth of God's allness unfolds naturally in the human consciousness that is reaching out to Him in the manner Christ Jesus commended: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment."Mark 12:30.

In his healing work the Master fulfilled this requirement. Jesus loved God supremely, referring to Him as "my Father," and saying, "I honour my Father . . . ."John 8:49. He did not doubt God's answer to his prayer. Prayer was his constant communion with God, whom he acknowledged as the only creator—having absolute power to govern and maintain the original perfection of His creation, including individual man.
