Christian Science is such a wonderful help in family life. I cannot imagine being a busy wife and mother of three active children without this great blessing. There is no aspect of one's existence that cannot be enriched by study and appreciation of the Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. My husband and I have had many wonderful proofs of the way God's law controls our lives. I am especially grateful that our children are learning to use the spiritual truths they're being taught in the Christian Science Sunday School. They know now that they have only to turn to the Bible and Science and Health to find the solution to any problem.
Our elder son, who is thirteen years old, recently injured his leg while playing rugby at school. The school matron called to tell me of the incident. She said that she had prepared to take the boy to hospital for the wound to be stitched and for an anti-tetanus injection, when she remembered that we were Christian Scientists; so, instead, she just cleaned up the youngster and sent him home.
Before long he arrived. He immediately assured me he had already acknowledged that God does not know accidents. Then he asked if we could pray together, and so we did. We phoned a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. Also, we recalled that Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." We affirmed the inseparability of man and God, his Maker, recognizing that man can never be cut off in any way from good.
