The Normal class of the Board of Education was held early in December. In compliance with the By-Law, Article XXX, Section 1, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, this class convenes on the first Wednesday of December in each third year.
The teacher of the 1982 class was DeWitt John, C.S.B., of Boston, practitioner and teacher of Christian Science and currently Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science. Mr. John had previously retired from The Christian Science Board of Directors to devote his time to the teaching and practice of Christian Science after a full career of outstanding service to The Mother Church in posts of major responsibility at headquarters, including Manager of Committees on Publication and Editor of The Christian Science Monitor.
Mr. John joined The Mother Church in 1927, received Primary class instruction in 1937, and has been listed in The Christian Science Journal as a practitioner since 1958; he became a teacher of Christian Science in 1964. He is author of the book The Christian Science Way of Life.
