THE CHURCH IN ACTION

To support the Monitor—we listen and obey

From the February 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From time to time individuals in the Field send useful experiences they have had in church work. The following is one example.

When asked by my branch church to be the advertising representative for The Christian Science Monitor in our area, I accepted reluctantly and with the intent that it was to be for only one year. The material I received from headquarters on how to proceed overwhelmed me and bewildered me. My first thought was to pack everything up and return it. But then I remembered that there was going to be a workshop meeting in Boston for advertising representatives, so I decided to attend it.

What a joy that was, and how grateful I was to be there. The meeting opened with Hymn No. 354 from the Christian Science Hymnal. As we finished the first verse all bewilderment and fears left me. I felt the burden roll right off my shoulders, and I knew I would carry on the work set before me.
