The power of God, good, is always able to guide us "into the land of Christian Science, where fetters fall and the rights of man are fully known and acknowledged" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, pp. 226-227). This has proved true in my experience.
At one time many years ago, I had no knowledge of Christian Science except that I had seen posters on streetcars advertising Christian Science lectures; and I had heard that there was "a book"—a textbook of Christian Science. I was frequently ill. It was a flu-like condition, a difficulty I had struggled with for a long time—recovering for a period, but then, after a week or so, suffering again. I realized that the prescribed medicine I was taking was not helping me. Also I had been on an allergy diet for a year and a half and could eat no foods containing milk, flour, eggs, and so forth. They were supposed to make me weak and tired. I had battled sickness all my life, including many so-called childhood diseases, and I had been in doctors' offices all through the years.
One morning I woke very early. Everything seemed clear and bright. Then I heard a voice. I looked around the room to see who had spoken, but I saw no one except my husband, sleeping peacefully. So I got out of bed and went over to the window to see if there was someone outdoors who had spoken. But there was no one. The next morning I woke in the same manner—very early. This time I heard the words "Christian Science."
