THE CHURCH IN ACTION

ACTION IN THE FIELD

Giving peace to the world

From the September 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A branch church in Wisconsin recently had a lecture preparatory meeting that featured a panel discussion on peace. The lecture itself dealt with this topic. Excerpts from the panel discussion follow:

Russ. Mrs. Eddy writes in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (p. 277), "The characters and lives of men determine the peace, prosperity, and life of nations." Our willingness to learn more about the peace of God individually can set a mental atmosphere that is irresistible to the receptive heart.

Lois. A realization of the power of God's peace corrects error. The only thing that will correct warring attitudes is the truth that there is really only the power of God, good, our one Mind. Obviously, truth must be lived, and the discipline of right thought and action is demanded of us every day. This discipline of loving others is what will make the difference.
