"It works! Mum, it really works!" With these words our younger son, Murray, announced his healing of warts, which had disfigured his hands for some time. We were still very new students of Christian Science but had decided we could work this problem out through prayer. Murray was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School, where he had learned that God is Love, and that truly he was God's perfect child. He had also learned that a spiritual idea cannot experience anything but good.
Murray agreed to try to cherish these truths and not examine his hands. For my part, I studied and prayed to understand his innate purity and perfection. I also pondered the beginning of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." The healing took place in a very few days and brought much joy to the whole family.
As it is almost seven years since my last testimony was printed in the periodicals, I have much progress to be grateful for. The first realization I had that Christian Science could heal me occurred while I was attending a Christian Science lecture to which a friend had invited me. At the time I had a small growth on my leg that caused me much discomfort. A doctor had treated it but said it would always be an inconvenience to me. As my friend and I left the lecture (which had impressed me greatly), I remembered the leg trouble and thought, "Now, if I were a Christian Scientist, I would know what to do about this." Then my friend invited me to accompany her to her branch church the following Sunday, and I have never looked back.
