"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Ps. 46:1 .This statement of the Psalmist is more than poetry. It is provable fact. Scientific prayer to God, held to and lived, will always save us. Such prayer has saved me when I have been challenged by sickness, financial difficulties, accidents, and many other crises.
But what about the challenges that are predominantly emotional—when waves of resentment, self-pity, grief, and fear are causing us to burn and boil inwardly and are making our lives miserable?
I recall one night long ago when I was bitterly criticized for things I had never done. I felt shattered. Sleep was impossible. The next morning it was my duty to read an important inspirational paper before a large audience. Worn out and panic-stricken, I prayed to God for help. Like a burst of light, His message to Moses came to me: "I AM THAT I AM: . . . Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."
Ex. 3:14 .
