Two years ago, when my family and I...

From the January 1987 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Two years ago, when my family and I were taking a motor trip I collapsed and lost consciousness while I was waiting to pay the check in a restaurant. When I regained consciousness I struggled to get up only to discover a stranger was holding me. At that point I saw my wife and my daughter at my side with their reassuring looks and comments.

The three of us explained that we were Christian Scientists and that we were used to handling emergency situations with prayer. Nevertheless, the person holding me down insisted I stay there until the paramedics arrived and looked me over. So I just relaxed, appreciating a moment to affirm my inseparable relationship to God as His image.

When the medics arrived, we assured them that the situation was under control. I must have hit my head on the corner of the counter as I fell, for there was a cut that was bleeding. A medic explained that the cut on my head needed stitches and that I should be taken to the hospital for further tests.
