My understanding of Church, gained through the study of Christian Science, was a great support in a recent experience. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy includes a definition of Church, which begins (p. 583): "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle."
After a Sunday morning service in our branch church, my husband and I joyfully prepared to drive to Boston to attend church that evening and the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church the following day.
In our prayerful work that day, my husband and I prayed the Lord's Prayer and studied "A Rule for Motives and Acts," the "Daily Prayer," and "Alertness to Duty" from the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (see Art. VIII, Sects. 1, 4, 6). We also rejoiced in the many assurances of God's healing, saving strength found in Psalm 91.
