I have had many healings through my understanding...

From the March 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have had many healings through my understanding of God in Christian Science, but I take special pleasure in sharing the following healing because it was such a clear example to me of the fact that God gives us all the understanding we need to prove the power of His allness.

One Wednesday my husband and I were on our usual seventy-mile journey to the Christian Science church where we attend Wednesday evening testimony meetings. Only this Wednesday we had started out earlier in the day so I could ride my bicycle the first thirty miles on a hilly country road. Then we planned to put my bicycle into the back of our pickup truck and continue on our way by the highway to a relative's house, where I could shower and change before going to church. I had made the bicycle trip the previous year and had found it necessary to walk up the highest hill. This year, with a new bicycle and a good deal of riding during the year, I looked forward to pedaling up all the hills!

Three thoughts kept coming to me as I rode along. They were passages from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that were in the Christian Science Quarterly s Bible Lesson for that week. The first is from page 450: "The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God, or good." Also, from page x: "The unbiased Christian thought is soonest touched by Truth, and convinced of it." And from page 106: "God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience."
