Reaching out

From the December 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The newborn baby reaches out
To touch the mother's face.
The Bethlehem babe reaches out
To touch the world with grace.
The child at school reaches out
To grasp and understand.
The ever-present Christ is holding
Humanity by the hand.
Jesus reached his hand to touch,
And the leprous man was healed.
For the touch of Christ—new understanding—
Is the love of God revealed.
The Christ can touch a dam of grief
And, touching, breach it and bring relief.
The touch of the Christ will release, and free
The weeping world from misery,
For Christ is power, by divine decree,
And it's reaching out to you and me.
