An extract from a letter to the Clerk of The Mother Church:
"I joyfully received your letter for which I thank you.
"In my first letter I wrote about my difficulties. As a reminder here is an extract:
1. out of work for many years;
2. all my possessions stolen;
3. my wife deserted the home;
4. all my children were barred from school;
5. I was evicted by my landlord and all this [happened] within a year. What troubles!
