It was through the testimonies of healing I read in copies of The Herald of Christian Science that my interest in Science was awakened. It was clear from them how Christian Science was practiced, how divine Truth was applicable to any and every situation, and how the testifiers relied on God. All of that was new to me.
In fairly rapid succession I read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy and the Bible, became a member of The Mother Church, and took Primary class instruction in Christian Science, for my desire to understand Science was immense. After a lifetime of seeking the meaning of life, I at last felt that I had found the house built "upon a rock" of which Christ Jesus spoke (Matthew).
My life changed completely. I was gradually freeing myself from an oppressive sense of responsibility, clinging to the past, fear of making a mistake, and feelings of inability, insecurity, dependence, self-condemnation, self-justification, and so on.
