What took place that night?

From the January 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many years ago my mother was brought home from the hospital; the doctors advised my father that they could do no more for her. They had little hope she would live more than a few days.

My oldest sister had been introduced to Christian Science by a dear friend. This sister came to see my mother and asked her if she would consider having a Christian Science practitioner help her through prayer. My mother answered, "What have I to lose?"

A practitioner was called, who came and stayed by my mother's bedside all night, praying. When morning came, we children, six of us at home out of ten, hurried to our mother's room to see if she was still alive. The practitioner was preparing to leave and greeted us with assurance. "God is taking care of your mother," she said. "Don't worry; she is going to be up and about soon."
