I am very grateful to have been raised in a loving family of Christian Scientists. I grew up attending a Christian Science Sunday School. Accidents and other difficulties experienced by family members were always handled successfully through prayer. My husband was also raised in Science, so when we were expecting our first child, we knew we wanted to rely on prayer throughout this experience.
I met regularly with a Christian Science practitioner, and we discussed many wonderful topics relating to pregnancy and childbirth. We talked about man's true identity as the perfect, spiritual idea of God, and about the fact that true creation and development originate in God, Spirit, not man.
We also considered this reference to Children in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "The spiritual thoughts and representatives of Life, Truth, and Love." A statement I especially enjoyed working with is this one from Science and Health: "All things are created spiritually. Mind, not matter, is the creator. Love, the divine Principle, is the Father and Mother of the universe, including man." I was so inspired by all of this spiritual reasoning.
