I first learned of Christian Science while on duty in the medical department of a United States naval hospital in 1942. During a perusal of the shelves in the main library of the hospital, I came upon Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I had never met a Christian Scientist, and I really knew nothing at all about this religion other than what little I had heard of it in medical school. However, I did recognize that this book was the textbook of Christian Science, and I was curious.
For a considerable length of time I had been feeling a need for a knowledge of things spiritual, and I had embarked upon a program of reading the Bible; but I was making little progress.
I am sure that this search led me to Christian Science.
