At the time I was introduced to Christian Science, I was not looking for healing but for a clearer understanding of God. As I began my study, however, healings took place. Within a short time a skin eruption that had occurred each spring ceased to reappear, and soon regular incapacities from ulcerated tonsils also ceased.
Twenty-six years ago our family took the huge step of moving to a different country. Our immediate blessing was the love and friendship so freely given by fellow Christian Scientists at our new location. In the years since, we have had no difficulty in readily obtaining accommodation because of the understanding that Christian Science gives us of home. Indeed, during one period of ten years, while we moved no less than nine times, it was always to an improved situation. During that period we also had a financial crisis, losing all our money and assets. But we found ways to meet our immediate and subsequent needs through prayerfully acknowledging that God is the giver of all good. Five years ago we were able to build a home to our own specifications.
My most recent healing was confirmed in 1993. I had worn spectacles since I was a child. In 1983 my optician informed me that I had evidence of cataracts in my eyes and that in ten years I would need an operation to remove them. I did not accept this prediction and prayed to see myself as God's perfect idea whenever the prediction came to thought.
