Christian Science organization lectures reach hungry hearts

From the August 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

About twenty-five or thirty newcomers came to the lecture sponsored by our Christian Science organization (CSO) on campus, and a number of them stayed for an hour afterward to ask questions. We gave away over twenty-five copies of Science and Health, the Christian Science textbook. There was such genuine interest! The lecturer was very impressed with the quality of thought and questions coming from the audience. Questions were asked such as "How do you deal with sin in healing?" There was evidently a deep hungering and searching for Truth. A number of other students who couldn't come to the lecture because of scheduling conflicts, came afterward so they could talk with the lecturer. Each CSO member had resolved to invite five people. In addition, we announced the event to the student body that day, as a follow-up to an all-campus E-mail we had sent beforehand. A portion of the audience came as the result of each of those advertising avenues. They were very sincere, hungering, respectful.

The Roman Catholic chaplain came, as well as the Baptist and Pentecostal chaplains. One of them said, "I want your literature in my literature rack—I'm in charge of the literature racks, and I want fresh stuff there." One fellow came because his girlfriend had a debilitating disease and he wanted to know if Christian Science could heal her.
