God's ceaseless communications

From the August 1996 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some years ago, when I received the news that a shortwave radio network would enable some of the religious periodicals and the daily newspaper of the Christian Science Church to be made widely accessible in broadcast form, my heart soared for the sake of those in countries without Christian Science churches and Reading Rooms. They would be able to learn of the healing influence and effect of these activities that had so strengthened and encouraged me.

As I was rejoicing in what I felt was a progressive step for humanity, I wanted to play my own part by contributing supportive prayer. I turned to God to gain some fresh insight that would enable me to help this radio outreach, and the thought that came vividly to mind was a sentence that I love in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. She writes, "The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man." Science and Health, p. 284

In thinking about that, I saw how even a twenty-four-hour-a-day radio transmission reaching a substantial portion of the globe gives but a slight hint of God's universal communication, forever established and constantly occurring. I perceived something of the wonderful, the infinite and spiritual, communication that is in truth always taking place as God lovingly governs His image and likeness, man.
