Those who are attuned to today's social conditions know that many people are searching for healing. They want to be cured! They crave release from tension, worry, burden, pain, and sickness. And many are turning to alternatives to conventional medicine.
The Bible tells of individuals whose experiences parallel those we hear about today. For example, King Asa sought help from physicians but wasn't healed.See II Chron. 16:12. In the book of John, we read that "a great multitude of impotent folk" hoped for healing by immersion in a pool that supposedly had therapeutic powers.See John 5:2,3. And a woman afflicted with hemorrhaging, which medical remedies hadn't cured, then turned in desperation to Christ Jesus and was immediately healed.See Luke 8:43-48. She had found the one true remedy for all ills—Christ-healing.
For too long people have misunderstood or disregarded the Bible's powerful message of successful healing through spiritual means alone. Christ Jesus proved the naturalness, inclusiveness, and certainty of the divine method. He was the master healer, whose words and works point the way to solving every kind of problem—or, more exactly, to discovering and demonstrating God's kingdom of harmony right here on earth. By studying Jesus' words and healings, we learn that mankind must ultimately discard all beliefs that man's health and happiness are at the mercy of matter, because the reality is that they are ever present and under the perfect government of God.
